Weekend Recipes: Ultimate Ground Beef Tacos

This beef taco recipe adds flavor, creativity, and spice to make a flavorful treat and still provide health benefits. One of my favorites!

What You Need

Seasoning

  • 1 tbs chili powder
  • 1 tsp cumin
  • 1/2 tsp oregano
  • 1/4 tsp cayenne
  • 1/2 tbs Cajun seasoning

For Ground Beef

  • 2 tbs extra virgin olive oil
  • 1 chopped onion
  • 1 chopped garlic clove
  • 1 lb 90/10 round beef
  • 1 c tomato sauce
  • 1 chopped jalapeno

Assemble

  • 8 whole wheat tortillas (or corn shells)
  • Shredded lettuce
  • Monetary jack cheese
  • Pepper jack cheese
  • Baja sauce
  • Sriracha sauce
  • diced green peppers
  • diced tomatoes

How To Make It

Mix together ingredients for taco seasoning and set aside.  In a skillet over medium heat, add the olive oil. When the oil is hot, add the onion and sauté until soft, about 4-5 minutes. Add the garlic and continue to cook for about 2 more minutes. Add the ground beef and cook, breaking up the meat into smaller chunks, until it is cooked through, about 5 minutes. Stir in the taco seasoning, cook for about 30 seconds and then add the tomato sauce and jalapeno. Turn heat to low and simmer for about 10 minutes, do not forget to stir. Warm the tortillas (or shells) in oven or microwave until warm. Should not take long, Fill each tortilla with the beef and add toppings.
