Staying with this weeks taco trend, here’s my recipe for turkey tacos (or burritos if you prefer). This is a tasty treat for all of the taco lovers out there that want to make their tacos at home.
What You Need
- 1 tbs extra virgin olive oil
- 1 chopped onion
- Cajun seasoning
- 1 lb ground turkey, dark or light meat
- 1/2 tsp garlic powder
- Sriracha Sauce
- 8 whole wheat tortillas (or corn shells)
- Pepper jack cheese (optional)
- Hot sauce to taste (optional)
- chopped avocado (optional)
- chopped tomatoes
How To Make It
Heat the olive oil over medium heat in a skillet. Add half of the chopped onion and top with cajun seasoning. Sauté 3-5 minutes, stirring occasionally, until the onions are softened. Add the turkey, garlic, and additional Cajun seasoning. Cook the turkey, stirring occasionally, until browned and cooked all the way through, this should take 8 minutes. Make the tacos by filling each tortilla with cooked turkey and top with the various toppings. Will make a spicy offering with the pepper jack, Cajun seasoning, and sriracha.
This recipe makes for around 320 calories, 9 grams of fat, 22 carbohydrates, and 26 grams of protein per serving.
