Weekend Recipes: Steak, Quinoa, & Sriracha Mix


Thought chicken and quinoa makes a protein packed meal? Steak and quinoa delivers even more, add a little sriracha and you have the ultimate fire meal.

What You Need

  • 1 pound lean sirloin steak
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon cayenne
  • 1 1/2 teaspoons sea salt, divided
  • 1 cup quinoa
  • Extra virgin olive oil
  • Sriracha sauce
  • Cajun seasoning
  • 1 tablespoon fresh lemon juice
  • 1 bunch finely chopped spinach
  • 1 chopped red bell pepper

How To Make It

Season steak with garlic powder, cayenne and Cajun season. Allow steak to sit for 30 minutes. In the meantime, begin preparing the quinoa with 2 cups of water. Bring to a boil then reduce heat to low and simmer uncovered until quinoa is soft and the water is absorbed. This can take about 15 minutes. Heat a skillet and add some olive olive before adding the steak and sear for 4 minutes per side (can cook longer for preference). Add sriracha sauce to either side of steak to taste preference. Let rest on a cutting board for 5 minutes before slicing it into thin strips. Whisk lemon juice and1 tablespoon of oil together. Add spinach, squash, bell pepper and quinoa.
